About WB Krishak Bandhu Scheme 2023
Mamta Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, has announced the WB Krishak Bandhu scheme to provide financial help to farmers. This scheme is open to all farmer brothers in West Bengal. According to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s pledges, beneficiaries of the Krishak Bandhu Scheme will receive fixed-income benefits. This initiative will assist around 68 lakh farmers. Farmers who benefit from this scheme will receive financial help wherever it is needed.
This initiative of the Government of Bengal would prove to be the most valuable asset in terms of financial assistance for all poor farmers in India. According to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s commitment, beneficiaries of the WB Krishak Bandhu Scheme will be granted Rs. 200000 in life insurance. In addition, crop insurance of Rs 5000 will be distributed to recipients in two payments. In the case of the accidental death of any farmer, the money insured will be paid to him as well.

The Scheme has two components, which are explained below:
- Assured Income: The state government has implemented a single benefits system that provides guaranteed financial support to all farmers and farm household families. It is a single digitized card-based identity for all West Bengal farmers. This scheme’s direct benefit includes two additional components:
- Farmers with 1 acre or more of land are eligible for Rs. 5000 per year for both the Rabi and Kharif seasons. The first installment will be paid in June, and the second installment will be paid in November.
- Farmers will also receive a minimum of Rs. 2000 each year on a pro-rata basis.
- Death Benefit: Under this system, farmers’ families will be provided with a lump sum settlement of Rs. 2 lakh, including suicide. Farmers between the ages of 18 and 60 can take advantage of the new insurance policy features. The death benefit plan will go into effect on January 1, 2019.
Benefits of Krishak Bandhu Scheme
Some of the key benefits of the Scheme are as follows:
- Farmers including one or more acre landholdings are eligible for 5000/- per year (Rabi & Kharif Season) support, with a pro-rata minimum of 2000/- per year aid.
- DOA officers recorded Farmer’s personalized authenticated DOA specified database digitally, placed it in the Krishak Bandhu cloud, processed it, and digitally confirmed it with L&LR database synchronization.
- The farm family would receive a one-time lump sum of 2 lakh under the Death Benefit Scheme.
- This system validated data given by the DOA with State and District Co-operative Banks for direct benefit payment.
- Farmers will be given a personalized “Krishak Bandhu” digital Smart Card to authenticate recipients for all future government aid.
Features of WB Krishak Bandhu Scheme
Some of the key features of the scheme are as follows:
- A new policy provides Rs 2 lakh per farmer family in the event of a farmer’s death. Farmers and sharecroppers will be able to register under this system beginning in February. Benefits will begin to accumulate on January 1, 2019.
- The funds would be made accessible through the agriculture department’s Krishak Bandhu’s initiatives, which will help over 72 lakh farmers in the state. Both projects will begin in January, and farmers will be able to apply for assistance beginning in February.
Eligibility Criteria
