Objective Of Ayyankali Urban Employment Guarantee Scheme

There are many people across the state who are willing to work. Due to many reasons, they are not able to find a job for themselves. Under this scheme, the Government of Kerala has decided to provide at least 100 days of employment in a financial year To the eligible candidates of each family to work as unskilled labor in urban areas.

Benefits/ Features Of Ayyankali Urban Employment Guarantee Scheme

  • The applicant will get a job card within 15 days of registration with the municipality
  • An applicant who has a job card can apply for the employment
  • An adult member of the urban family will get employment for about a hundred days a year
  • Women applicants will get priority for the employment
  • The applicant will get medical benefits free of cost if he or she gets injured or ill on the job
  • If the applicant becomes injured due to a work accident, he/ she will be entitled to get a daily wage of not less than half the allowable wages under the scheme
  • If the applicant dies or is permanently disabled at the workplace his legal nominee will get an ex gratia of rupees 50000
  • Applicants will get compensation if the payment gets delayed with then the 14 days of work

Work Type Under Scheme

Applicants will get the employee to pursue the following type of work under this scheme:

  • Constructions for water conservation and hydrology such as underground dykes, earthen ponds, dams (stop dams) and check dams
  • Watershed maintenance activities such as contour trenches, terracing, contour bunds, quarries, gabion structures, and fostering of a fountain area
  • Micro and minor irrigation works, construction, restoration, and maintenance of canals /canals
  • Restoration of conventional water sources
  • Public land development works
  • Development of fallow or wasteland and adaptation to agriculture 
  • Many other relevant works.

  • Applicant should be a permanent resident of Kerala
  • Applicants must be willing to work unskilled labor
  • Age of the applicant must be above than 18 years
  • Applicant must belong to below poverty line or economically weaker section categories
  • Applicant must have a bank account
