About Empowerment and Equity Opportunities for Excellence in Science 2023
Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) invites applications for Empowerment and Equity Opportunities for Excellence in Science 2023 from researchers belonging to the SC and ST communities. SERB has adopted a scientific social responsibilities policy to culture of social commitment among SERB grantees. The board funds all the areas of Science and Engineering without discriminating any discipline to search proposals outside the normal activities of the such institution will be preferred for the proposals involving securely survey-oriented work and routine studies will not be normally considered the proposal will be funded if it has Novelty and then regulator computers to execute the project.

Objective of Empowerment and Equity Opportunities for Excellence in Science
The Empowerment and Equity Opportunities for Excellence in Science scheme aims to provide research support to researchers belonging to the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes in undertaking research in frontier areas of Science and Engineering.
Benefits of Empowerment and Equity Opportunities for Excellence in Science
- Funding is provided up to a maximum of Rs. 50.0 lahks (excluding overhead charges).
- The research grant will cover equipment, manpower, consumables, travel, and contingency. Overhead Will be provided as per prevailing norms of SERB.
- The duration of the project shall be a maximum of three years.
Eligibility Criteria
- The applicant should be an Indian National.
- Should be an active researcher belonging to the Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe category working on a regular basis in an academic institution/national lab or any other recognized R&D institution in the field of Science and Engineering.
- The applicant should hold a Ph.D. degree in Science or Engineering or M.D. / M.S. / M.D.S. / M.V.Sc. degree.
- The applicant should have at least four years of service remaining before superannuation as of the date of submission of the proposal.
- Researchers/Scientists who have an ongoing project under the EMEQ scheme as of the date of submission of the proposal are not eligible to apply.
- Co-Investigators are not allow in the scheme.

Plagiarism
Proposals submitted need to be original and plagiarism in any form will not be acceptable. All submitted proposals would be subjected to a third-party similarity check and proposals are liable to be rejected if found plagiarized. Any text taken verbatim from another source needs to be identified using quotation marks and proper references. Applicants are requested to pre-check their proposals for plagiarism before uploading to avoid any serious repercussions at a later stage.
Selection Criteria
The selection will be based on the recommendations of a Task Force Committee that will be constituted by the Board. If desired by the Committee, the applicants may be called for personal discussion.

Terms and Conditions
- The duration of the project should be a maximum of three years.
- The grant is for major equipment, manpower, consumables, travel, and contingency.
- Overhead charges as per SERB rules will be provided to the implementing institution.
- No co-investigator(s) is/are allowed in this program.
- Projects, which involve Recombinant DNA work should be examined and certified by the Institutional Biosafety Committee. A certificate from this committee should accompany the project proposal.
- Projects, which are clinically oriented or projects, which involve experiments with human and/or animal material, should be examined and certified by the Institutional Ethics Committee. Certificates from this committee should accompany the project proposal.
- Proposals in the area of Earth Sciences should contain the geological map of the region to be studied.
- The applicant must make sure to quote File No. (given by SERB) and the title of the proposals in all your future communications.
- Before final submission, the Principle Investigator (PI) must check the completeness of the proposal (including the attachments). The scanned attachments should be clearly legible. Incomplete proposals or proposals with illegible documents will be summarily rejected.
