Fame India scheme is a government of India initiative keeping in mind the pollution issue happening due to the use of diesel in petrol vehicles. Under this scheme, the government has decided to increase the use of electric vehicles. The scheme was implemented in the year 2019. The first phase of the scheme was from 2019 to 31st March 2021 which was already done by the concerned authorities. Now the government has decided to initiate the second phase of the scheme.

Fame India’s second phase

Recently the government has announced to initiate of the second phase of the fame India scheme. The initiative’s second phase is going to end on 31st March 2024. During the second phase, the government will give out 670 electric buses in the state of Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat, and Chandigarh. Along with the buses, it has been also said that 241 charging stations will be provided in the streets of Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Gujarat, and Port Blair. 

Objective Of Fame India Scheme

The major objective of the government behind starting the fame India scheme is to address the issue of environmental pollution caused by fuel vehicles. Moreover, the government is also going to address the issue of fuel depletion. The government has increased the subsidy incentive from Rs. 10000 per kWh to 15,000 per kWh.

During the period the government has said a total of 78045 vehicles through India. Out of which 58613 are electric two-wheelers sold till March 2022. The Target was to sell 10 lakh units. Conceding that the government has exceeded the scheme duration till March 2024. The updated Fame India includes the sale of 59984 electric two-wheelers, 16499 electric three-wheelers, and 1562 electric four-wheelers.

Fame India budget

The government has approved the budget of Rs. 10000 crore for the fame of India. The government has used only rupees 500 crores for the skin which is only 5% of the budget. The government has decided to divide the rest of the budget for the coming years: Rs 1839 crores for 2021-22, Rs 3775 crore for 2022-23, and Rs 3514 crore for 2023-24.

Charging stations

On 20 July 2021, an announcement was made by the Minister of State and heavy industry affairs Krishan Pal Gujar that the government has approved the infrastructure of 520 charging stations at a cost of rupees 43.4 good old under the first face. Now in the second phase, the government is going to install 350 new charging stations. These stations are going to be installed in big cities like Chandigarh, Delhi, Jaipur, Lucknow, and Bangalore.
