Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana 2023 

Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana is to provide free treatment to all people of Punjab state. The free treatment will be offered to the state’s underprivileged so that they can go to the hospital for examinations and procedures without having to worry about money. In addition, the system includes yearly rewards. People will be able to continue their therapy at a variety of hospitals without having to worry about money. It will provide economic security to 65 percent of Punjab’s residents. It is a free health insurance cover of Rs. 5 lakh per family annually depending on entitlement. The cost of the premium for 14.65 lakh SECC recipient families will be shared 60:40 by the Central and State governments. The State will bear the entire premium expense for the rest of the 24.53 lakh beneficiary families.

Some of the key features of the scheme are as follows:

  • The scheme was announced by the state government on the 20th anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi’s birth on August 20, 2019.
  • In the first year of the scheme, around 5 lakh farmers were served.
  • According to the announcement, 9.5 lakh farmers would now be insured from August 20.
  • The Mandi board would pay the complete insurance fee for all farmers who will receive free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh per year.
  • Cashless secondary and tertiary care treatment (1579 packages) in Punjab and Chandigarh public and empanelled private hospitals
  • A cashless health insurance policy of Rs 5 lakh per family per year is available

Achievements of Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana 

  • Under the Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana, the state Health Department has given 45 lakh health e-cards, with 4.66 lakh beneficiaries taking advantage of the service.
  • More than 6600 heart procedures have been performed, 3900 joint replacements have been performed, 9000 cancer treatments have been performed, and 96000 dialyzes have been performed.
  • Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana has empanelled 767 hospitals.
  • The number of health packages has grown from 1393 to 1579.
