Shala Darpan is the centralised school information system run by the Rajasthan Education Department. While its primary purpose is school administration, attendance tracking, and teacher records, it plays a critical secondary role in scholarship verification for students enrolled in Rajasthan government and government-aided schools. Without a valid Shala Darpan entry, several Rajasthan scholarship schemes will not process a student’s application.
What Shala Darpan does for scholarships
When a Rajasthan student applies for a state scholarship through the Rajasthan SSO portal (such as Mukhyamantri Higher Education Scholarship, Devnarayan Scholarship, or Post-Matric Scholarship), the system fetches the student’s enrolment record from Shala Darpan. The matching happens on three fields:
- Student name (must exactly match Shala Darpan record)
- Date of birth
- School U-Dise code
If any of these fields do not match, the scholarship application is rejected at the verification stage, sometimes without a clear error message. This is the most common cause of mysterious scholarship rejections for Rajasthan students.
How to access Shala Darpan
The portal is at rajshaladarpan.nic.in. There are three main user roles: school administrators, teachers, and students/parents. Most scholarship-related self-service tasks are available under the Citizen Window, which does not require login.
For students and parents (no login needed)
- Visit
rajshaladarpan.nic.in - Click on “Citizen Window” in the main menu
- Select “Search Schools” or “Know Your School / Student”
- Enter your school name or U-Dise code
- You can view the school’s basic details, total enrolment, and contact information from here
To check your individual student record, you need to ask your school’s administrator. The student-level data is not publicly searchable due to privacy rules.
For school administrators
- Visit
rajshaladarpan.nic.in - Click “Login” at the top right
- Enter the school’s U-Dise code as the username
- Enter the password (initially provided by the District Education Office)
- Complete the captcha and click “Login”
- The school dashboard opens with options for student management, teacher records, attendance, and scholarship verification
How to verify your scholarship record in Shala Darpan
This is the most important workflow for scholarship applicants. You cannot do this yourself; your school’s principal or designated Shala Darpan operator must do it.
- Ask your principal or class teacher to log in to Shala Darpan with the school’s credentials
- Navigate to “Student Search” within the dashboard
- Search by your scholar number or by name
- Open your record and verify three things: name spelling, date of birth, and caste category
- If any field is wrong, the principal can submit a correction request through the “Modify Student Profile” workflow
- Corrections typically take 7-15 working days to reflect after approval by the Block Education Officer

Common Shala Darpan problems and fixes
Problem 1: Login password not working
School administrators can reset their password by clicking “Forgot Password” on the login page. The reset link is sent to the email registered with the District Education Office. If the registered email is outdated, the school’s principal must visit the BEO office in person with a request letter.
Problem 2: Name mismatch with Aadhaar
If your Aadhaar shows “Ramesh Kumar” but Shala Darpan shows “Ramesh K.”, the scholarship verification will fail. The fix is to ask the school to update Shala Darpan to match your Aadhaar exactly, including middle initials and surname format.
Problem 3: Wrong caste category
If your record shows the wrong caste category (for example, OBC instead of SC), you cannot apply for the right scholarship. The school must submit a correction request with a copy of your caste certificate. Approval is by the BEO.
Problem 4: Student not found in search
This usually means your enrolment was not recorded in Shala Darpan for the current academic year. The school is supposed to update enrolment within 30 days of the academic year starting. If not done, ask the principal to add your record immediately.
Problem 5: Mobile OTP not received during SSO scholarship application
This is a Rajasthan SSO issue, not strictly Shala Darpan, but it confuses many applicants. Check that your mobile number in SSO matches the one linked to your Aadhaar. If your mobile has changed, update it in your Aadhaar first, then update it in Rajasthan SSO.
Difference between Shala Darpan and Shala Darshan
This is a frequent confusion. Shala Darpan (rajshaladarpan.nic.in) is for government and government-aided schools in Rajasthan. Shala Darshan (rajshaladarshan.nic.in) is the parallel system for private and unaided schools. Both serve similar functions for their respective school categories. For scholarship verification, the system used depends on which type of school you study in.

Frequently asked questions
Can a parent log in to Shala Darpan to check their child’s record?
No. Direct parent login is not yet available. Parents must request the information through the school administrator.
Is Shala Darpan the same as the National Scholarship Portal?
No. NSP is a central government scholarship portal for all of India. Shala Darpan is a Rajasthan-specific school management system. Rajasthan students apply for central NSP schemes through NSP directly, and for state schemes through Rajasthan SSO, which fetches verification data from Shala Darpan.
How long does a name correction take?
Officially 15 working days. In practice, expect 3 to 6 weeks depending on the BEO office workload.
I am a private school student. Where do I apply for Rajasthan scholarships?
Most Rajasthan scholarship schemes are limited to government and government-aided schools. Private school students can apply only to specific schemes like Devnarayan Scholarship and Kalibai Bheel Scootie Yojana, subject to scheme conditions.
My U-Dise code is not accepted. What do I do?
Verify the code with your principal. If the school is recently established or recently received its U-Dise code, the database sync can take a few weeks. Contact the helpdesk if the delay exceeds two months.
