About SMILE Scheme for Transgender Community
The ‘Central Sector Scheme for Comprehensive Rehabilitation for the Welfare of Transgender Persons’ is a sub-scheme that involves a set of parts. It offers scholarships to transgender students from 9th grade through post-graduation to help them finish their education. The PM-DAKSH scheme includes provisions for developing skills and wellbeing. SMILE Scheme for Transgender Community Benefits
The scheme considers different dimensions of identity, medical care, education, occupational opportunities, and shelter to provide the social security that is require. From 2021-22 to 2025-26, the Ministry has set aside Rs. 365 crore for the scheme. Two sub-schemes are includes in this umbrella scheme, which is overseen by the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment. These are the ‘Central Sector Scheme for Comprehensive Rehabilitation for Transgender Persons’ and the ‘Central Sector Scheme for Comprehensive Rehabilitation of Beggars. The Ministry has ensure that every need of the transgender community and people who engage in begging is met in the most professional manner possible. The establishment of a Transgender Protection Cell in each state will monitor cases of offenses and ensure that they are promptly register, investigated, and prosecuted, the Union Minister said.
