About Maulana Azad Scholarship 2024

As mentioned above, the Maulana Azad scholarship was inaugurated in the years 2002 and 2003. There are almost two types of scholarship present in the Maulana Azad scholarship. Both of the scholarships provide a wide range of incentives to all of the students who are not able to pay their fees because of their high rates. Another important type of scholarship which is awarded by the authorities of the Maulana Azad Fellowship is the Begum Hazrat Mahal scholarship. The Begum Hazrat Mahal scholarship is only available for all of the girl’s students in the college or universities in India. Through this scholarship, minority students will get a major incentive amount so that they can carry on with their life like any other regular student.

Eligibility Criteria

There are two types of scholarships present that are Begum Hazrat Mahal scholarship and the Maulana Azad Fellowship. The eligibility criteria for both of the scholarship is mentioned below separately:-

For Begum Hazrat Mahal-

  • This is scholarship is only applicable to girls’ students.
  • The applicant must belong to any of the following categories or religion-
    • Muslims
    • Christians
    • Buddhists
    • Jains
    • Parsi
  • The applicant must be studying in class from 9th to 12th
  • The applicant must have secured a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent in the previous class.
  • The annual household income should be not more than 2 lakh.
  • The scholarship is not applicable to more than two students from the same family.

For Maulana Azad Fellowship-

  • The applicant must belong to the following categories-
    • SC
    • ST
    • OBC
    • Muslim
    • Christian
    • Sikh
    • Buddhist
    • Parsi
    • Jain
  • The candidate must be pursuing-
    • A regular/ full-time M.Phil/ Ph.D. courses in University/Academic Institution
  • The annual household income of the beneficiary must not exceed Rs. 2.5 lakh from all sources.
  • The candidate should have secured a minimum score of 50% at Post Graduate level.
  • Transgender candidates are also eligible to apply under the scheme.
  • The reservation followed is as per Government of India norms.

Incentive Amount

If you try to enroll yourself under the Maulana Azad fellowship or the Begum Hazrat scholarship then you can get the following incentive:-

For Begum Hazrat Mahal-

  • Fellowship Amount-
    • Rs.25,000/- per month for the first 2 years (JRF)
    • Rs.28,000/- per month for the remaining years (SRF)
  • Contingency for Humanities, Social Sciences, and Commerce-
    • Rs.10, 000/- per year for the first 2 years
    • Rs.20, 500/- per year for the remaining time
  • Contingency for Science-
    • Rs.12, 000/- per year for the initial 2 years
    • Rs.25, 000/- per year for the remaining time
  • Escorts/Reader Assistance-
    • Rs.2,000/- per month in cases of physically and visually challenged candidates
Maulana Azad Fellowship-
  • For classes IX and X- INR 10,000 in two installments of INR 5000 each.
  • For classes XI and XII- INR 12,000 in two installments of INR 6000 each.
