The Indus Towers Scholarship 2024 has been announced for students who want to pursue higher education. Through the grants for higher education, the Indus Towers Scholarship Program enables young people with disabilities to pursue their career goals. To help deserving students who do not have the financial stability to continue their studies this program offers financial help. The Shishu Sarothi Centre for Rehabilitation and Training is in charge of implementing the program. The Indus Towers Scholarship 2024 helps students with disabilities from Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Sikkim, and Tripura complete their education. About the Indus Tower Scholarship Program

Seventy students from the states of Assam, Manipur, and Mizoram will receive financial aid through the Indus Tower Scholarship Program to study certificate and diploma programs. A wide range of subjects are covered such as computer & digital skills, agriculture & farming, and beauty. Also, they can pursue cosmetology, hospitality & tourism, tailoring & weaving, electrical & mechanical, music & fine arts, cooking & baking, retail & sales, sports, etc. Additionally, to encourages and uplift scholars in their studies and path toward economic empowerment. Career counseling sessions and awareness seminars on the Rights for Persons with Disabilities Act of 2016 will be held.

The objective of Indus Towers Scholarship

The primary objective of the Indus Towers Scholarship is to provide needy and deserving people with the education that they deserve. The goal of the Indus Towers Scholarship Program is to enable and empower young people with disabilities in Northeast India. To attain economic independence by offering scholarships for relevant, useful, and in-demand vocational and skill training is the main goal of the scholarship. This will make it easier for them to find opportunities for self-employment and sustainable livelihoods. Eligibility Criteria

  • The applicant should hold Indian nationality
  • The applicant should be students with disabilities who meet the criteria for a 40% baseline disability or above, as determined by a disability certificate issued by a state in North-Eastern India – Pradesh Assam Arunachal, Bengal and, Sikkim, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Tripura
  • Be in the age range of 18 to 35 on June 1, 2024; be willing to enroll in or already be enrolled in full-time vocational training and skill-building courses; these should preferably be recognized under sector skills and by the National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET) in the following categories:
  • The following are examples of office, accounting, and administrative skills: Tally, secretarial practice
  • The study of beauty and cosmetology (such as basic cosmetology and beautician).
  • Front desk, food and beverage, housekeeping, catering, and back office are a few examples of jobs related to hospitality and tourism.
  • Sewing Technology and Weaving, for Example
  • Mechanical and Electrical: (e.g., Mechanical Diesel, Electrical, Mechanical Electronics, Mechanical Plumber, Welder) Farming & Agriculture: (e.g., Sericulture, Organic Farming, Horticulture). Digital and computer skills, such as DTP, digital marketing, and computer training, Fine Arts & Music, Baking and Cooking, Sales & Retail
  • Sports & Others have at least 45% or the equivalent in Class 10/HSLC/prior examination. With an annual income not surpassing ₹6,00,000, CGPA falls into the Below Poverty Line (BPL) category or the Economically Weaker Section (EWS).

Reward Details

A maximum of ₹70,000 in scholarships will be awarded to each of the 70 young people from Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Nagaland who are chosen as recipients.
