Selection Procedure

The applicant will have to go through the following selection procedure to get selected for the scholarship:-

  • Pre Matric Scholarship
    • Priority: Grant scholarships to all eligible renewed students.
    • Second priority: Granting scholarships to all students of Backward Classes Category-I
    • Third priority: The remaining amount will be granted to the eligible class 2A, 3A, 3B, and other backward classes (only castes listed in the backward category of the central government):

Implementing Procedure 

The applicant will have to go through the following implementation procedure to successfully implement the scholarship scheme created by the government:-

Pre Matric scholarship
  • Publish notification instructing students to apply online for pre-matric scholarships.
  • Review the applications submitted by the students online and confirm the eligible applications.
  • Filling out student information in the department’s pre-matric scholarship SSP software.
  • After checking the information filled, the declaration from Taluk Backward Classes Welfare Officers
  • Grant scholarships for selected eligible applications as per reservation policy in accordance with the respective year’s budget and Deposit directly into the student’s bank account through the Aadhar Bridge Payment System.
Post Matric Scholarship
  • Applications are invited from eligible students in SSP software online.
  • Students have to submit an online Application along with prescribed documents and bank account number and IFSC code, caste and income certificate, previous class marks card, etc online and submit the hard copy to concerned colleges.
  • College Principals and Inspection Officers will review the application and documents at the relevant level and Confirm Online and the said documents should be submitted to the concerned taluk backward classes welfare officers.
  • Taluk Backward Classes Welfare Officer will Check, verify and Confirm Online.
  • The District Backward Classes Welfare Officer will Check the above-said information.
  • The scholarship will be granted to the eligible students on the basis of merit and marks in accordance with the district grant made available in the respective year.
  • Selected eligible applications will be granted scholarships on reservation policy and deposited directly into the student’s bank account through Treasury-2 software, in accordance with the respective year’s budget.

Vidyasiri
  • Applications are invited from eligible students in SSP software online.
  • Students have to submit online Applications along with prescribed documents and bank account numbers and IFSC codes, caste, and income certificates, previous class marks cards, etc online and submit the hard copy to concerned colleges.
  • College Principals and Inspection Officers will review the application and documents at the relevant level and Confirm Online and the said documents should be submitted to the concerned taluk backward classes welfare officers.
  • Taluk Backward Classes Welfare Officer will Check Verify and Confirm Online.
  • The District Backward Classes Welfare Officer will Check the above-said information.
  • Attendance of students selected under this plan must be at least 75%, Information about this should be obtained from the college principal and the same should be uploaded by Taluk Backward Classes welfare Officers online.
  • In accordance with the respective year budget depending upon eligibility and marks of the student’s approval should be given at the taluk level to qualified students under the Vidyasiri meal and Hostel facility.
  • Payment of the sanctioned amount to the concerned students directly to the bank account through Treasury-2 software.
Eligibility Criteria

The applicant must follow the following eligibility criteria to apply for the scholarships from the pointers given below:-

Pre Matric Scholarship
  • Students belonging to Backward Classes Category I, 2A, 3A, and 3B.
  • The annual income of the student’s family should be below Rs. 44,500 / -.
  • Students of Backward classes studying in Government / Government recognized aided/ unaided schools are eligible.
  • Students studying in government/government-aided hostels / residential schools are not eligible for scholarships.
  • Only those with more than 75 percent attendance in the previous class are eligible.
  • Students who have failed in the previous class are not eligible for scholarships.
Post Matric Scholarship
  • He/she must be a citizen of India and a Permanent Resident of Karnataka and belong to the caste included in the Backward Classes list specified by the Government of India or the State Government.
  • Backward classes who are pursuing post-matric education in government / local body / Aided institution / Recognized unaided private institutions affiliated to the statutory universities of Karnataka are eligible for post-matric scholarships.
  • Students admitted to government hostels / residential colleges are not eligible for post-matric scholarships.
  • Annual income limit has been fixed at Rs. 2.50 lakh for Category- I students and Rs. 1.00 lakh for Category – 2A, 3A, and 3B.
  • The minimum percentage set to get scholarships for new and renewed students in previous classes.

    • Renewal 50%
  • Category-2A, 3A and 3B

  • If attending the equivalent courses more than once, Not eligible for scholarships.
  • Only two male members of the same family are eligible for the scheme. This restriction does not apply to females.
  • Post-matric scholarships per month for post-matric students attending various courses for a period of 10 months will be granted after considering eligibility and income limit.
Vidyasiri
  • a) Should be a citizen of India and a permanent resident of Karnataka.
  • b) His/her caste Should be included in the list of other Backward Classes as notified by the Government of India or State Government.
  • c) Students pursuing post-matric courses in government / local Institutions / Aided Institutions / unaided recognized private institutions, affiliated to the statutory universities of Karnataka.
  • For students of backward classes who have not got admission to any departmental / government-funded student hostel and studying in post-matric courses will be sanctioned in the Vidyasiri-Food and Accommodation Scholarship Scheme are eligible.
  • For students selected under the scheme, a monthly stipend of Rs. 1500/- per month for a period of 10 months total of Rs.15000/- per annum during the academic period, subject to other provisions, will be credited students a bank account opened in a bank with core banking system through online.
  • Students
    • (i) Entry to Students Hostel,
    • (ii) Boarding and loading assistance plan and
    • (iii) Post-matric Scholarships –Eligible for any one of these facilities.
  • Those who are eligible for availing of this facility should submit an application online.
  • a) The Gross Annual Income of the student, father/mother/guardian family should be within the limits set forth below.
    • (i) Rs.2.50 lakh for students of Category-I
    • (ii) Rs. 1.00 lakhs for students of Category-2A, 3A, and 3B
  • b) Students must be in rural areas and at least 5 km away from the college where they are studying. However, if the student’s residence place is in the city/town but attending colleges in a different city/town, he/she is eligible for this facility.
  • c) New and Renewal students must pass with the minimum marks mentioned below in the previous year’s annual examination in order to avail of the facility.

  • Category – 2A, 3A and 3B

    • Renewal 60%
  • In case of failure to attend the examination due to medical reasons, the such a student should be submit a medical certificate certified by Medical Board
  • a) Students who attend the equivalent courses more than once are not eligible. (eg: Admission to B.Com after B.A.MA (English) after MA (Kannada), LLB, after B.Ed.etc).
  • b) Students attending postgraduate medical courses but practicing medicine during the course are not eligible for this facility.
  • c) Students who passed in Arts, Science, and Commerce courses, Bachelor’s or Master’s degrees and attended approved Professional or Technical Certificate, Diploma, or Degree Courses and if they are otherwise eligible, they are entitled to the benefits of the scheme. Those who have changed courses more than once are not eligible.
  • e) Only two male members of the same family are eligible for the scheme. However, this restriction does not apply to girls.
  • Class attendance of each MAH student must be at least 75%
Fee Concession
  • He/she must be a Citizen of India and a Permanent Resident of Karnataka and belong to the caste included in the Backward Classes Notified by the Government of India or State Government.
  • Students pursuing post-matric courses in government / local Institutions / Aided Institutions / unaided recognized private institutions, affiliated to the statutory universities of Karnataka.
  • The annual income of the student’s father/mother/guardian family must be within the maximum limits set forth below to avail of the facility.
    • i) Rs.1.50 lakh for students of Category I and
    • ii) Rs.1.00 Lakhs for students of all religions, castes, and communities belonging to other backward classes listed by the Government of India or State Government
    • iii) Students belonging to the Social Welfare / Scheduled Tribes And Minority Welfare Departments are not eligible for these benefits from the Backward Classes Welfare Department.
  • New and Renewal students must have passed with the minimum marks mentioned below in the previous year’s annual examination in order to avail of the facility.
  • Students attending the equivalent courses more than once are not eligible.
  • b) Students attending postgraduate medical courses are not eligible for this facility if they are practicing medicine during the course.
  • c) Students who have passed in, Science, and Commerce courses, Bachelor’s or Master’s degrees, and attending approved Professional or Technical Certificate, Diploma, or Degree Courses, and if they are otherwise eligible, they are entitled to the benefits of the scheme.
