The Mandela Rhodes Foundation is a unique partnership seeking to close a circle of history for the benefit of current and future generations of Africa. It brings together the 20th-century legacy of leadership and the reconciliation embodied by Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela, and Cecil John Rhodes’s 19th-century legacy as it relates specifically to Education and Entrepreneurship. The Mandela Rhodes Scholarship Programme is a combination of financial support for postgraduate studies and a high-quality leadership development program with the intention of building exceptional leadership capacity in Africa. It aims to be the leading protagonist in Africa for such endeavors. It developed leadership and vocational capacity across African society to have the continent achieve success and prosperity and full equal partition in the Global world.
Benefits of Mandela Rhodes Scholarship
This scholarship covers the cost of a scholar as follows:
- Tuition and registration fees as set by the institution.
- A study materials allowance as set by the MRF.
- Accommodation and meal allowance as set by the MRF.
- A medical aid allowance as set by the MRF.
- Economic class travel allowance for international Scholars only from the Scholar’s home to their institution at the beginning and end of the degree.
- Personal allowance.

This means a commitment to developing self-awareness by engaging with difficult parts of yourself, an openness to learning from the diversity and differences in your cohort, and a willingness to explore and embrace complexity within yourself, others, and the systems around you.
Eligibility Criteria
- If you are between the ages of 19 and 29, are a citizen of any African country, and have a first degree with above-average academic results (70% or upper second), you are eligible to apply for the scholarship.

We look for young Africans who have demonstrated the potential to embody our founding principles of reconciliation, education, entrepreneurship, and leadership. You must have already assumed leadership and made an impact on your campus or community.

Application Procedure for Scholarship 2023
- The applicant first visits the Mandela Rhodes website.
- The homepage will appear on your screen where you have to scroll down and click on the Apply Now link.
- Now a page will open on your screen where you have to click on the Register button.
- The registration page will open where you have to enter your details such as:
- Password
- First name
- Last name, etc.
- After filling in all the details click on the submit button for the final submission of the application form.
