About International Major Entrance Scholarship
International Major Entrance Scholarships (IMES) are given to outstanding international students who are attending UBC’s undergraduate programmes. IMES scholarships are awarded to students as they begin their first year at UBC, and they are renewable for up to three years. Depending on available resources, the number and value of these scholarships provided each year vary. Your application will be evaluated based on your academic achievements and extracurricular activities.
The International Scholars Program invites some of the best young students from across the world to UBC. International Scholars are high-achieving students who have excelled in extracurricular activities, have a passion to make a difference in the world, and are committed to giving back to their schools and communities. Objective of International Major Entrance Scholarship
International Major Entrance Scholarships (IMES) are given to outstanding international students who are attending UBC’s undergraduate programmes. The IMES scholarship’s goal is to give students financial support for their undergraduate education. IMES scholarships are awarded to students as they begin their first year at UBC, and they are renewable for up to three years. There is no additional procedure for a scholarship, at the time of admission the applicant will automatically enrol for the scholarship. You join a community of active and supportive young leaders who improve UBC with their unique views, engagement, and creativity when you get an award or scholarship.
Benefits of International Major Entrance Scholarship
Students at UBC will get award an immense amount of scholarships through the IMES for undergraduate programmes. Depending on available resources, the number and value of these scholarships provided each year vary. The number of UBC International Major Entrance Scholarships available is renewable for up to three years of study. IMES will be given to recipients as they start their first year at UBC.
Eligibility Criteria
You must meet the following requirements to consider for the IMES:
- Applicants must be first-year students at UBC, having graduated from high school.
- Must be an international student with a study permit to study in Canada at UBC (student visa). (Changes in citizenship status will have an impact on your IMES eligibility.)
- Demonstrate outstanding academic success and intellectual promise, as well as noteworthy extracurricular and community activity.
- Applicants will not consider for an International Scholars award based on need and merit.
- By January 15, you must apply to UBC.
Selection Process
Shortly after receiving an offer of admission to the University of British Columbia, candidates will assess for this scholarship. Academic scores, SOP, and ELP scores received at the time of entrance application will be used to determine award winners. Each year, final judgments on scholarship winners are between mid-March and the end of April.

Application Procedure for Scholarship 2022-23
- To be one of the beneficiaries of the UBC International Major Entrance Scholarship, no separate application is necessary. They will, however, judge their admissions applications.
- To consider the scholarship, candidates need to submit their entrance application by January 15, 2022.
