Respected Prime Minister Encourages Indian Student To Apply
Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged Indian students to apply for the Quad Fellowship, which was announced in Tokyo on Tuesday, 24 May calling it “a remarkable and unusual idea.” In a video released by the MEA, Modi stated, “I urge our youngsters to register for the Quad Fellowship program and embrace the next generation of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) leaders and experts establishing a brighter progressive future.” He also stated that this esteemed Fellowship program will provide excellent chances for our students who want to pursue graduate and doctoral studies in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The Quad Fellowship application is currently available and will be until June 30, 2022. According to the announcement, the first class of Quad Fellows will begin on campus in autumn 2023.

The White House released a Fact Sheet on Quad Summit that stated, “It accomplishes so by giving scholarships, intensive and exciting programs at the intersection of STEM and society, mentorship and career-advancing programming, and cross-cultural exchange opportunities.” Eric Braverman, Amb Kazuyoshi Umemoto, President of Japan Foundation; CEO of Schmidt Futures; and Professor Yoichiro Matsumoto, scientific and technology adviser to Japan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, were among those who attended the Quad Fellowship event. Schmidt and Braverman were featured in a launch film shown to the leaders. Prime Minister Fumio Kishida of Japan expressed his hope that students from his country will “apply for this demanding but very fascinating fellowship program.”

The application process will begin in March 2022. In October 2022, the first cohort of Quad Fellows will be revealed, and virtual pre-programming will start. In August of 2023, the residential program will commence. Commencing in the 2023-2024 academic year, fellows will be able to receive financing for their graduate studies.
For master’s degrees and doctorate of philosophy degrees (PhDs) in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM), the Quad Fellowship will give scholarship or research money.
Clinical healthcare degrees, such as medical doctorates and master’s degrees in nursing, are not eligible for funding.
All of the interviews will take place over Zoom. The only email will be used for notifications and communication.
