The Community Foundation for Loudoun and Northern Fauquier Counties received a $220,000 gift to establish a Val and Bill Tillett Scholarship. The scholarship will be provided to the students who are enrolled in Northern Virginia community colleges for horticultural programs. Val Tillett is a graduate of the horticulture program from Northern Virginia community colleges and Val and Bill Tillett were long-time dairy farmers with proper roots in Loudoun’s agriculture community. Val worked in advertising in New York City but then moved to the agricultural community in order to express her artistic abilities. She works in staining glasses and then eventually she works in landscaping. It took her 12 years to complete her landscaping degree at the community college. This was a program that the teachers supported.
