The following scholarships are available from the University of Tasmania in the year 2023:-

  • The Dean of Business and Economics Merit Scholarship is awarded to high-achieving international students to study at the University of Tasmania in 2023, covering 50% of registered tuition fees.
  • The Dean of Sciences and Engineering Merit Scholarship is awarded to high-achieving international students to study at the University of Tasmania in 2023, covering 50% of registered tuition fees.
  • Dean of Law’s Merit Scholarship is awarded to high-achieving international students to study at the University of Tasmania in 2023, covering 50% of registered tuition fees.
  • Dean of Medicine’s Merit Scholarship is awarded to high-achieving international students to study Medicine at the University of Tasmania in 2023, covering 25% of registered tuition fees.
  • The Tasmanian International Scholarship provides commencing international students with a 25% reduction in registered tuition fees for the duration of their course (provided satisfactory grades are maintained).
  • The ASEAN Scholarship provides eligible international students commencing study in 2023 with a 15% reduction in tuition fees for the duration of their course. This includes citizens of Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
  • The South Asia Scholarship provides eligible international students commencing study in 2023 with a 15% reduction in tuition fees for the duration of their course. This includes citizens of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Bhutan.
  • The Track to Tasmania Scholarship provides eligible African international students commencing study in 2023 with a 15% reduction in tuition fees for the duration of their course. This includes citizens of Botswana, Cameroon, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Morocco, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

Eligibility Criteria

The applicant must follow the following eligibility criteria to apply for this scholarship:-

  • Dean of Business and Economics Merit Scholarship
    • Available to high-achieving offshore and onshore International students who have an offer of a place in an eligible Business and Economics course when commencing their first year in 2023.
    • Students must have met the minimum academic requirements as determined by an assessment made by the University of Tasmania based on country-specific grading scales.
    • Eligible courses include:
      • All College of Business and Economics undergraduate or Honours coursework programs (excluding double degrees with other Colleges).
      • All TSBE postgraduate coursework programs.
    • To maintain this scholarship students are required to achieve a Credit (5.0/7.0) cumulative grade point average (CGPA) at the end of each study period.
  • Dean of Sciences and Engineering Merit Scholarship
    • Available to high-achieving offshore and onshore International students who have an offer of a place in an eligible Sciences and Engineering course when commencing their first year in 2023.
    • Students must have met the minimum academic requirements as determined by an assessment made by the University of Tasmania based on country-specific grading scales.
    • Eligible courses include:
      • All College of Sciences and Engineering undergraduate or Honours coursework programs (excluding seafaring programs); and
      • All College of Sciences and Engineering postgraduate coursework programs.
    • To maintain this scholarship students are required to achieve a Credit (5.0/7.0) cumulative grade point average (CGPA) at the end of each study period.
  • Dean of Law’s Merit Scholarship
    • Available to high achieving offshore and onshore International students who have an offer of a place in the Bachelor of Laws and associated double degrees when commencing their first year in 2023
    • Applicants must have previously completed pre-tertiary studies and be either:
    • A school leaver who has achieved a 95+ ATAR equivalent and has not already commenced tertiary studies. Or;
    • A Graduate who has achieved a High Distinction (85+/100) equivalent in their most recently completed and relevant tertiary studies.
    • Students must have met the minimum academic requirements as determined by an assessment made by the University of Tasmania based on country-specific grading scales.
    • To maintain this scholarship students are required to achieve a Credit (5.0/7.0) cumulative grade point average (CGPA) at the end of each study period.
  • Dean of Medicine’s Merit Scholarship
    • Available to high achieving offshore and onshore International students who have an offer of a place in the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery commencing in Semester 1 (February), 2023.
    • Students must have received at a minimum:
      • An overall ISAT score of 180 or higher; and
      • an ATAR (or equivalent) of 95 or higher.
      • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M3N)
    • To maintain this scholarship, students are required to achieve at a minimum a pass or ungraded pass result in all units at the end of each academic year.
  • ASEAN Scholarship
    • To receive the scholarship, you must be a citizen of an ASEAN country and be commencing the full fee-paying study of an eligible course at the university for the first time.
    • Eligible courses include:
      • All undergraduate or Honours coursework programs (excluding Bachelor of Nursing Hobart and Launceston; and fully online-only programs); and
      • All postgraduate coursework programs (excluding Master of Laboratory Medicine and fully online programs).
    • International students on a Student Visa (subclass 500) must continue to satisfy the criteria for the grant of a visa and must maintain satisfactory attendance in your course and course progress for each study period as required by the University of Tasmania.
  • South Asia Scholarship
    • To receive the scholarship, you must be a citizen of a South Asian country and be commencing the full fee-paying study of an eligible course at the university for the first time.
    • Eligible courses include:
      • All undergraduate or Honours coursework programs (excluding Bachelor of Nursing Hobart and Launceston; and fully online-only programs); and
      • All postgraduate coursework programs (excluding Master of Laboratory Medicine and fully online programs).
    • International students on a Student Visa (subclass 500) must continue to satisfy the criteria for the grant of a visa and must maintain satisfactory attendance in your course and course progress for each study period as required by the University of Tasmania.
  • Track to Tasmania Scholarship

The following awards will be available for the various scholarships:-

  • Dean of Business and Economics Merit Scholarship
    • Each scholarship covers 50% of registered tuition fees (including Student Services and Amenities Fees) for the duration of the course.
  • Dean of Sciences and Engineering Merit Scholarship
    • Each scholarship covers 50% of registered tuition fees (including Student Services and Amenities Fees) for the duration of the course. Four scholarships are available for each 2022 intake.
  • Dean of Law’s Merit Scholarship
    • Each scholarship covers 50% of registered tuition fees (including Student Services and Amenities Fees) for the duration of the course. Two scholarships are available for each Semester 1 and 2 intake in 2023.
  • Dean of Medicine’s Merit Scholarship
    • There are two scholarships available. Each scholarship covers 25% of registered tuition fees (including Student Services and Amenities Fees) for the duration of the course.
  • ASEAN Scholarship
    • 15% reduction in registered tuition fees for the duration of the course.
  • South Asia Scholarship
    • 15% reduction in registered tuition fees for the duration of the course.
  • Track to Tasmania Scholarship
    • 15% reduction in registered tuition fees for the duration of the course.
