What Is Charpak Scholarship 2023?

There are three different types of scholarships available through the Charpak Scholarship and you can apply for this scholarship of your choice by following the eligibility criteria presented by the organization. The candidates can fill out the application form for the three different types of scholarships according to the education level that they are currently taking into account in French universities. All of these scholarships are available for Indian students who are coming from their hometown to study at this French University and they are not able to continue their education due to the various financial funds that they require in order to complete their degree or course. There is a separate scholarship available for exchange students and master’s students from the official campus of the university and you can get benefits accordingly.

Selection Procedure

The applicant will have to go through the following selection procedure in order to be selected for the scholarship:-

  • Charpak Masters Scholarship
    • Your application will be selected on the basis of your academic excellence, as well as the consistency and quality of your statement of purpose. There is no CGPA/percentage cut-off for the scholarship. Knowledge of French will be an asset but is not mandatory. A tie-up between your current Indian institution and your future French institution will also be an asset.
  • Charpak Exchange Scholarship
    • The application will be selected on the basis of academic excellence as well as the consistency and quality of the candidate’s statement of purpose. There is no CGPA/ Percentage cut-off for the scholarship. Knowledge of the French language will be an asset but it is not mandatory.
  • Charpak Lab Scholarship
    • The application will be selected on the basis of academic excellence as well as the consistency and quality of the candidate’s statement of purpose. There is no CGPA/ Percentage cut-off for the scholarship. Knowledge of the French language will be an asset but it is not mandatory.
Eligibility Criteria

The applicant must follow the following eligibility criteria to apply for this scholarship:-

  • Charpak Masters Scholarship
    • The applicant must be an Indian national and reside in India
    • The applicant must be 30 years old maximum at the time of application
    • The applicant must be a student currently enrolled/have studied at an Indian Institution of higher learning or a young professional employed in a company for a maximum of 3 years at the time of application
    • The course must take place in France. If you have one semester or more of studies in another country, the scholarship will not be provided during that period.
    • An exception will be made for Charpak scholarship holders who are currently completing their M1 in France. They may re-apply for the second year of funding in order to complete their M2. There is no automatic renewal of the scholarship at the M2 level. Acceptance will be subject to academic performance at the M1 level, the nature of the master’s program, and a new statement of purpose.
    • Non-scholarship holders currently pursuing M1 in France are not eligible for the scholarship.
  • Charpak Exchange Scholarship
    • The applicant must be an Indian national residing in India
    • The applicant must not more than 30 years old (maximum at the time of application)
    • The applicant must be currently enrolled in an Indian institution of higher learning that has a tie-up with the French institution where the applicant will pursue an exchange semester. Please note that it is mandatory.
    • The applicant in the final semester project and laboratory research in a partner institute in France is not applicable.
  • Charpak Lab Scholarship
    • The applicant must be an Indian national residing in India at the time of application
    • The applicant must not be more than 30 years old at the time of application
    • The applicant must be currently enrolled in an Indian institution of higher learning at a Bachelor’s/Master’s level
    • The applicant must be in possession of an admission/acceptance letter from a French laboratory or institution where the research internship/project will be carried out.
    • The duration of the research internship/project must not be less than 1 month and must not exceed 2 months. If the duration exceeds 2 months, the awardees will have to cover the expenses for the rest of the duration by themselves.
Documents Required 

The following documents are required to apply for this scholarship:-

  • Charpak Masters Scholarship
    • Passport size photograph (please make sure that the photograph uploaded is formal)
    • Scanned copy of the first page of your passport (with photo and expiry date). If you will be getting your passport after the deadline, please attach proof of your passport application.
    • Full Curriculum Vitae (maximum 2 pages).
    • Scanned copy of your admission/acceptance letter from the French higher education institution. If you have not received it before the deadline, attach an email correspondence to show that you are in the process of getting the acceptance letter from them.
    • Scanned copies of mark sheets and degrees of Higher Secondary School (XII), Bachelor’s, and Master’s degrees (including those of completed semesters of the ongoing degree)
    • French language certificate, if any (DELF /DALF or from any recognized university)
    • Document of employment/internship record, if applicable
    • Letter (s) of recommendation from the current Indian university/employer or the institution last attended. The letter(s) of recommendation should be submitted as scanned copies of the original typed and signed paper letters. They have to include the signature and the contact details of the referee, and (if possible) should be on the headed paper of the institution and bear a stamp of the institution.
  • Charpak Exchange Scholarship
    • Passport size photograph (please make sure that the photograph uploaded is formal)
    • Scanned copy of the first page of your passport (with photo and expiry date). If you will be getting your passport after the deadline, please attach passport application proof.
    • Curriculum Vitae (maximum 2 pages).
    • Scanned copy of your admission/acceptance letter from the French higher education institution/laboratory. If you have not received it before the deadline, attach an email correspondence to show that you are in the process of getting the acceptance letter from them. Please note Your acceptance letter must mention the exact dates of your exchange program and that you have been selected for the exchange program under the bilateral agreement scheme signed between [name of the Indian Institution] and [name of the French Institution].
    • Scanned copies of mark sheets of Higher Secondary School (XII), Bachelor’s, and Master’s degrees (including those of completed semesters or ongoing degrees). The students pursuing Master’s programs must upload their Bachelor’s Degree mark sheets as well as passing certificates.
    • French language certificate, if any (DELF/DALF certificate or from any recognized university or Xth marks card if French was your second language)
    • NOC from the Indian institution
    • Document of employment/internship record, if any
    • French language certificate from Alliance Française in India or any recognized university, if any. Please note: knowledge of French is an asset but not mandatory to apply for the scholarship
    • Recommendation letter from the university (not mandatory)
    • Statement of purpose (format available on the scholarship form)
  • Charpak Lab Scholarship
    • Recent photograph (a professional portrait photo and preferably in JPG format)
    • Scanned copy of the first page of your passport (with photo and expiry date). If you will be getting your passport after the deadline, please attach passport application proof.
    • Curriculum Vitae (maximum 2 pages), preferably in Europass format and as a PDF file
    • NOC from your Indian institution – it should mention that you are a student there, and are selected for the internship and that your Indian institution has no objection to your internship. The document must mention the name of the French institution/laboratory.
    • Scanned copies of mark sheets and degrees of Higher Secondary School (XII), Bachelor’s, and Master’s degrees (including those of completed semesters of the ongoing degree)
    • French language certificate, if any (DELF/DALF certificate or from any recognized university)
    • Scanned copy of your admission/acceptance letter from the French higher education institution/laboratory. Your acceptance letter must mention the exact dates of your program.
