Eligibility Criteria

The applicant must follow the following eligibility criteria to apply for this scholarship program:-

  • Young Leaders Programs at GRIPS
    • This program is open to exceptionally promising young government officials with considerable working experience in the area of public administration. In principle, a minimum of three years of working experience in the field in the applicant’s home country is a prerequisite for admission to the program.
    • Students will be admitted on the basis of an appraisal of their potential to become future leaders at home, play important roles in their countries’ development, and maintain the lasting friendship and trust of Japan and other countries around the world.
    • They also accept Japanese students.
  • Toyohashi University of Technology Scholarship
    • Applicants must be international students at the graduate school level who are newly coming to Japan and must have demonstrated excellent academic achievement, with a grade point average of 2.30 (out of 3.00) or above in their most recent academic degree and will be expected to maintain the equivalent level during the scholarship period. They must also satisfy one of the conditions of “(6) Language ability” below.
    • Applicants must have the nationality of a country that has diplomatic relations with Japan.
    • Applicants with Japanese nationality at the time of application are not eligible. However, persons with dual nationality who hold Japanese nationality and whose place of residence at the time of application is outside of Japan are eligible to apply if they choose the nationality of the other country and renounce their Japanese nationality before the date of their arrival in Japan (when the student’s academic status at TUT is confirmed).
    • The applicant must be born after 2nd April 1987.
  • Kyoto University Scholarship in Japan
    • Those who have graduated, or expect to graduate, from an undergraduate or higher degree program
    • Those who have graduated, or expect to graduate, from a secondary school or equivalent
  • Joint Japan World Bank Scholarship
    • The Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program (JJ/WBGSP) is open to citizens of certain developing countries with relevant professional experience and a history of supporting their countries’ development efforts who are applying to a master’s degree program in a development-related topic.   
    • Subject to available funding, JJWBGSP offers scholarships for 26 Participating Programs at universities in the U.S., Europe, Africa, Oceania and Japan in key areas of development, including economic policy management, tax policy, and infrastructure management.
  • The University of Tokyo Scholarship in Japan 2021
    • The number of applicants to nominates by the Graduate School of Science to the University of Tokyo, as well as the number to be subsequently nominated by the University of Tokyo to MEXT, shall be finalized after the application period has closed. In the last round (application for 2021 entrance) each Graduate School was allowed to nominate at most one applicant, and the University of Tokyo allow to nominate at most three applicants to MEXT.
    • International students with outstanding academic records who wish to enter Japan in October 2022 as a new student to study in the Masters or Doctoral Program at the Graduate School of Science.
  • Yokohama MEXT Scholarships
    • The applicant must have the nationality of a country that has diplomatic relations with Japan
    • The applicant must be 34 years of age or younger as of April 1, 2022
    • The applicant must be able to arrive in Japan before the 2022 Fall semester will begin.
  • MEXT Japanese Government Scholarship
    • The scholarship provides by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Japan.
    • Applicants must have the nationality of a country that has diplomatic relations with Japan.
    • No IELTS/TOEFL requires if the previous degree was in English.
    • Applicants expects to be academically excellent and strongly motivated.
    • Applicant Must holds a High School Diploma for a Bachelor’s Degree.
    • Applicant Must holds a Bachelor’s Degree for a Master’s Degree.
    • Applicant Must Hold a Master’s Degree for Doctoral Degree.
