About ASEAN-India Research Training Fellowship

This fellowship has been started by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI), New Delhi, and the Department of Science & Technology to provide support to the young scientists of ASEAN member countries to carry out research in India.  Under the ASEAN-India Research, Training Fellowship beneficiaries will get a fellowship amount along with a one-time research contingency. There are only 50 fellowships available every year for the duration of 6 months.

The main objective of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI), New Delhi, and the Department of Science & Technology behind the ASEAN-India Research Training Fellowship are

Benefits Of ASEAN-India Research Training Fellowship

  • Round trip international airfare, visa fees, overseas medical insurance, etc.
  • Fellowship amount of INR 50000/- per month for accommodation, meals, and other miscellaneous
  • A one-time grant of INR 40,000/- for research contingency expenses, airport transfers, domestic travel (by road) for attending scientific /events and field trips within India, 
  • One-time Institutional overhead charges @ Rs. 2,500/- per month.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicant should be a resident of ASEAN member countries
  • Applicants must hold at least a Masters’s Degree in any Natural Sciences or an equivalent degree in Technology / Engineering / Medicine / allied disciplines.
  • The candidate’s age should not be more than 45 years
  • Must be working in a national R&D or academic institute in the home country
  • Fluency in the English language is mandatory for the applicants
  • Any applicant who availed any of the fellowship from the government of India in the previous 5 years is not eligible

  • Copy of relevant pages of valid Passport
  • Copy of the acceptance letter from any Indian scientist/ institution for hosting the applicant
  • Copy of the endorsement letter from present employer

  • Itinerary options (Tickets to be booked by AI-RTF Secretariat)
  • Joining notification (By Indian Host Institution)
  • Letter of acceptance by Parent Institute 
  • Letter of consent by Indian Host Institute 
  • RTGS details of Indian Host Institute (Endorsed by Institute)
