Number of Scholarship
The following number of scholarships are available in this scheme:-
- The number of Pre-matric scholarships to be sanctioned in the year 2019-20 will be 20,000 + Renewal and 25,000 + Renewal in 2020-21.
- The Number of slots of Scholarships as mentioned above will be distributed among all the States and Union Territories of India.
- The number of slots available to any State/UT is decided on the basis of the percentage of the population of PwDs of that State/UT in comparison to the total PwD population of India.
Eligibility Criteria
The applicant must follow the following eligibility criteria to apply for this scholarship:-
- He/She must be a regular full-time student of Class 9 or 10 in a government or recognised school
- The applicant must have more than 40% disability and a valid certificate for the same
- He/She must belong to a family where the annual income is not more than INR 2.50 lakh from all sources.
Benefits Of Pre Matric Scholarship for Students with Disabilities
The following benefits will be provided to the candidates in this scholarship:-
- Maintenance allowance for 12 months in an academic year (for hostellers): INR 800 per month
- Maintenance allowance for 12 months in an academic year (for day scholars): INR 500 per month
- Book grant (for both hostellers and day scholars): INR 1,000 per annum
Disability Allowance for Pre Matric Scholarship for Students with Disabilities
The following allowances will be provided to the candidates according to their disability:-
- Visually impaired: INR 4,000 per annum
- Hearing-impaired: INR 2,000 per annum
- Physically disabled: INR 2,000 per annum
- Intellectual disability: INR 4,000 per annum
- All other types of disability: INR 2,000 per annum

Selection Procedure
The selection procedure for this scholarship is as follows:-
- The following factors will be taken into consideration for selecting the scholars
- Fulfillment of eligibility conditions.
- Recommendation of the State Education Department.
- The number of slots available to the State.
- The merit of the candidate in terms of the percentage of marks obtained in the qualifying examination.
- In case of tie-in marks obtained by the students, the selection will be based on the percentage of disability. Furthermore, if a tie still prevails, the age will be taken into consideration and the older candidate will get the preference.

The applicant must follow the following terms and conditions to apply for the scholarship:-
- 50% of the total scholarships are reserved for female candidates. However, in case of an adequate number of female students are not available, the unutilized slots can be utilized by suitable male candidates.
- Not more than two children with disabilities of the same parents can avail of benefits under this scheme.
